A Problem With Politics
People are pretty fucking stupid. We’ve got the liberal left, we’ve got the conservative right. We’ve got people who are guaranteed(arguably) their freedom of speech and thought, and they use that right to try and persecute other people for exercising the exact same right. Now, take me for example. I am disgusted to my bones by a lot of liberals(conservatives too) I’ve met. Not all of them, mind you. I have some very good friends who are liberal. But I live in Hippyville, USA. Population: A Whole Fuckin’ Lot of Hippies. During the Bush administration, they were going apeshit every day it seemed like, talking about how he’s the worst president ever, he’s an evil dictator, blahblahblah. Meanwhile, the conservative bullheads scream at the liberals about being unpatriotic, un-American, and traitors to the country.
Fast forward to Hopey McChange going into office, and the liberals are going wild again. Positively though, this time. They’re now yelling the same stuff at the conservatives when they voice a complaint. But this time, they’ve got the trump card. Race. They’ve got a half-black man in office, and they’re going to milk that fucking card for all its worth. Don’t like Obama’s foreign policy? You’re a goddamn racist! Don’t like Obama’s economic policy? You’re a goddamn racist! Don’t like Obama’s suit? You’re a goddamn racist!
Last week, there were over 800 events around the country that drew an estimated 1 million people, in honor of the Boston Tea Party. The idea was that on Tax Day, people would gather and voice their disenchantment with where the hell tax money is going these days. Had this gone on while Bush was in office, the liberals would’ve loved it and the conservatives would’ve hated it. But since Obama is in office, the hateful, spiteful, vindictive attitudes that many liberals took to this… was staggering. Janeane Garofalo, for example. The night after this took place, she was on the air with Keith Olberman, and they spent several minutes massacring anyone with a dissenting opinion from their own. They went on to say that this was not about taxes, the economy, politics, or anything else. It was simply a bunch of conservative redneck racists who can’t stand to have a black man in the White House. Garofalo went on to say that conservatives have a less evolved limbic system than liberals, and that keeps them from thinking logically about things.
The last time I recall hearing a political talking head say something about the brains of their opposition being different and less evolved, it was Nazi scientists saying that about the Jews. In another interview prior to this, she expressed her opinion that all conservatives should be locked in concentration camps. Not a very liberal thing to say.
A person who I consider a good friend of mine, once said that all conservatives should be shot. Also not a very liberal thing to say.
Ron Paul did a short interview with CNN a few days ago, and he was asked(once again) about the bailout plan and his thoughts on Texas Governor Rick Perry saying at the Austin Tea Party that secession was a possibility if the government did not stop pissing the people off(my paraphrase). Ron Paul, being one of about three politicians in the United States who actually knows what the fuck the constitution says(and also abides by it) told the truth: Secession is a distinct possibility, and there is nothing constitutionally wrong with it.
In fact, looking at history, the United States has a long, happy relationship with secession. We seceeded from Great Britain. That was great. We got all happy and teary eyed when the Soviet states seceeded from Russia. When that happened, it was our patriotic duty as lovers of freedom, to support them. Even when Russia spent the better part of a decade and a half trying to rope Chechnya back into the fold, we loudly declared that Chechnya is a sovereign nation, and not subject to Russia. Same thing with Taiwan, and the constant state of contention with China.
The only time we don’t like secession is when it’s happening to us. Take the Civil War(or as true historians like to call it, ‘The War of Northern Aggression’) for example. As soon as some Southern states finally decided “fuck you” to their Northern brethren who were placing trade embargos on them and trying to tell them what they could or could not do with their private property, people go up in arms about it! But wait. Hold on a second. No they fucking didn’t. The citizens of the North did not give two shakes of a jackrabbit’s ass about the South going their own way. At least, they didn’t care enough to actually go to war about it. The politicians, however… well, they didn’t want their power base being disrupted, so they fucked everything up, as usual. ‘Protect the Union!’ they said, to encourage volunteers to sign up for military duty. That didn’t work. What else could they use? Ahh… slavery. Maybe that’ll work. Sure enough, it did. Eventually.
But all that is beside the point. The point here, is that the average dumbass who read the interview with Ron Paul went with their initial knee-jerk reaction and declared him a traitor to the country. An unpatriotic, un-American idiot who doesn’t know anything about the law or politics or history. If you don’t like the system, then get out! We voted our president in, now we support him no matter what! Or, essentially, the exact same thing that conservatives forced upon liberals, when they were bitching about the system. You don’t like George Dubya Bush? Get the fuck out of the country, fucking hippy!
It just goes to show how much of a goddamn joke all this is. People’s memories are so short, it baffles me. This new era of change that was supposed to sweep in with Obama has resulted in nothing but more of the same. His avid supporters are just as close-minded and ignorant as Bush’s avid supporters. Yet nobody seems to see it. This ‘us versus them’ routine makes the strongest sports rivalry seem like playground bullshit. Liberals, who by dictionary definition, are supposed to be open to personal freedom of thought and expression regardless of what it is, have become in the past two or three months, the most iron-fisted, tyrannical support group that I’ve ever witnessed. Mention that you don’t believe in global warming, and you’ll get fucking crucified. Show off all the scientific data that has been collected that supports your point of view, and you’re a liar who can’t see the truth.
I had dinner with a friend of mine a couple weeks ago, and he was going on about how amazing and good it is that so many people turned out to Obama rallies during his campaign. I mentioned that loads of people turned out and cheered on Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Saddam Hussein as well. How does that make a large crowd good? Was it taken in stride, or countered logically? No, I was hit back with a knee-jerk reaction and proceeded to get lectured in the most random, half-assed political and philosophical mash-up that I’ve heard outside of those debates they have on news networks. Not a damn bit of it made sense, and the whole gist of it was, in his words, “just enjoy yourself, and have a good time.”
Say what? I’ll enjoy myself and have a good time when conservatives stop trying to kick me out of the country for bashing Bush, and when liberals stop trying to kick me out of the country for bashing Obama. All you fuckers need to chill out, back up, gain some perspective, and stop being reactionist douchebags.
